Since Meow Stories re-homes over 1,000 cats a year, they are constantly traveling to pick up others and were off on another adventure to save more around the time they took in Carnita. Even though they're short-staffed and always on the search for more volunteers, Carnita, a mother of five, was willing to fill one of the roles.

via Meow StoriesHours away in Scottsville, Virginia, a one-day-old orphan kitten was rescued by a concerned citizen after being located on the street with no mother in sight. At the same time, Meow Stories began caring for the orphan kitty, a friend of Kate's rescued three tiny black kittens whose mother was tragically struck and killed by a car in Richmond, Virginia.

Thinking Carnita could help Kate and her husband in the mounting task, Kate said to her friend, "I got a really good momma, here. Bring me the kittens."

Typically, a mother cat has to be "tricked" into taking on kittens from another little. This is commonly done by putting a dollop of wet food on the kitten's head, letting the mother cat lick and clean it off, thus putting the mother's scent onto the kitten and them being accepted. However, Carnita didn't require this to accept the other four cats.

"She immediately laid over and let them nurse," Kate said. Now, Carnita has nine young ones she loves.
"That's why we call her our 'Super Momma,'" Kate illustrated.

Super Momma and her very large, very fluffy feline family are currently cared for in Orange County, Virginia. Carnita has also gotten some relief from a gracious volunteer bottle feeding the young kittens.
